Opportunity and RequirementsHigh Level Needs StatementThe engineering manager needs are derived from the engineering director functions in place today, and the need to transition much of this coordination to a neutral place (where internal & partner governance by contribution rights are maintained). This role will require the individual to behave like an "engineering director", both internally and with partners. They must establish themselves as a strong technical manager with their peers inside the engineering organizations of contributing members. Required skills: leadership through influence, engineering management experience (agile), developer background (with Java to be able to perform RPIs, very familiar with Agile and TDD), experience working in open source projects, exceptional communication skills, strong personal empathyActivities:-RPI scheduling / management.-Perform technical interviews for potential Dojo candidates with neutral party needed.-Allocations / Committer tracking across all projects - work with engineering directors, project leads and leads to handle cross member allocation issues.-Leadership Liaison role - serve as a neutral LL for mixed member projects - Ensure the LL function performed by member LL's are run in an appropriate fashion (neutral but respecting governance by contribution).Dojo - Coordinate new Dojo creation (document requirements, work with stakeholders to get agreement on where, what to work on and whom will be involved).Project lifecycle - working with the program teams and partners, support the process of project lifecycle events.New project or major feature proposals - track all major feature work and new project ideas to be sure that proposals have been publicly vetted, and that the governance process is followed.Manage communication / reporting - bi-weekly calls, ensure teams are reporting out to community regularly.Resolve inter-member disputes around allocations, project inceptions, feature proposals, etc ? with support from leadership.
