Palo Alto, CA (650) 94301

Company:

Our client is a passionate and entrepreneurial team of people with unrivaled experience and background in science, technology and healthcare.
Their mission is to transform brain health through measurement science.
Brain health is fundamental to our mental health and overall health. Our client has developed and validated the first ever passive, continuous measures of brain function using patterns generated from touchscreen interactions on your smartphone. These data reflect the way your brain processes and responds to the world around you.

While weight, blood glucose or blood pressure are familiar objective measures of diabetes and heart disease, progress in mental health has been limited by the lack of similar objective and ecological measures. Our client's scientifically validated digital biomarkers of brain function are objective, ecological, and proving essential in detecting and managing mental illness early. The ability to detect deterioration of brain health enables the timely delivery of interventions, when they are most effective. Measuring brain health, and delivery of smarter care, results in better long-term mental health.

We are looking for people who are passionate about our mission, committed to excellence and excited to build a company that will address one of the greatest health challenges of our time.

Position

We are looking for a Director of Design to oversee UI/UX, animation, illustration, and service design across our client's portfolio of product and service solutions. In this role, you will partner with engineers, product managers, and clinicians who deliver care daily to users and patients. You will be able to have instantaneous feedback, move quickly on what works, and fix what doesn't.

Working closely with Product Managers and leadership, your team will define user experience and visual design to deliver a functionally strong, aesthetically pleasing, and seamless end-user experience for web, mobile products and health services beyond the screen.

What you'll be doing

Leading the UI/UX, illustration, and animation, and experience teams.
Driving a design culture that brings together the human aspect of the business, impacting not only our products but also our organization.
Developing an exceptional service experience around our product portfolio and health services that is coordinated and efficient, and delights multiple complex stakeholders that include patients and primary providers.
Collaborating with product design, product management and engineering to define and develop prototypes and innovative solutions to drive product direction, interaction design, visual design and user experience.
Leading your team to conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex real-world challenges.
Establishing and promoting design guidelines, design system, and best practices and standards throughout the organization.
Guiding creation of wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, interactive prototypes, and written specifications to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
Presenting and defending designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders.
Ensuring execution of all visual and interaction design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering.
Overseeing user research, usability testing, and synthesis of user feedback.

Who you are

A talented and creative generalist with at least 10 years of deep experience in mobile, web, and service design in a commercially competitive environment.
Confident building, leading, and motivating teams.
Comfortable working in an agile/scrum development process.
Constantly thinking about the user. You feel good about your work knowing that what you do will affect the lives of millions of people around the world.
You strive to create a visually enticing and user friendly design that best fits the needs and desires of our clinicians, patients, and users daily.
A teammate. You are able to work on your own, but are also able to listen and appreciate the insight of those with whom you will be working closely.
Knowledgeable of Sketch, InvisionApp, Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, Figma, Marvel, or other visual design, wireframing, and interactive prototyping tools.
A good person, highly ethical and accepting of others.
