They launched in 2014 via Kickstarter because they wanted to enable kids (and adults) to build their first real computer - a Raspberry-pi computer that teaches kids the important concepts about physical and electronics engineering. Our client is enabling a generation of digital natives to go beyond just consuming content on the screen, by allowing them to see what's behind the screen, and build and program their own devices and gadgets. They've already sold thousands of games - join the team to help enrich the lives of millions.Job Opportunity:In this role, you will develop and execute their consumer and schools' PR, social media and content marketing strategy, from start to finish. You will develop a PR plan, create media lists, write pitches and press releases, conduct media relations, monitor media, engage the users and audience through social media, email and content marketing to advance our clients mission. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and storyteller, creative, organized, and very passionate about bringing the vision of creative confidence for kids to the customers.Responsibilities:
--PR strategy: Work with Director of Marketing to develop PR strategy to support product launches, corporate branding, thought leadership, product reviews, and more
--Media materials: Write press releases, bylined articles, pitches, briefing documents, talking points; develop and maintain media lists
--Media relations: Secure and manage proactive and reactive media opportunities with education/edtech trade media and consumer media; media train spokespeople as needed; monitor media for coverage and industry trends
--Social Media/Email: engage their audience on a daily basis to tell the story and deliver news/updates
--Blog/Content: engage the audience to deliver long-form content to establish our client as a thought-leader in the industry
--Award opportunities: Identify award opportunities; write and submit entries
--Content marketing: Write blog and social media posts to engage with parents and educators
--Results-Driven: measure and analyze the effectiveness of difference campaigns and initiatives to constantly learn and improve
--Work cross-functionally with sales, content, business development, product management, design and engineering colleagues to identify, create and maximize storytelling opportunitiesRequirements:
--Storytelling: you can tell an irresistible story about a complex topic
--Keen ability to articulate a story and tie metrics, mission, and accomplishments together in new and interesting ways that reflect the broader business environment and cultural zeitgeist
--Written communication: You are an exceptional writer and know how to make every word count (and eliminate "fluff"). You can switch easily from writing a press release about a new product feature, to crafting a bylined thought leadership piece, to developing a lighthearted blog post
--Media relations: You're a tenacious pitcher, can come up with creative pitch angles, and have a proven track record of blog, regional, trade, and top-tier media placements
--You get things done: You'll be a one-person PR team, so you must be a jack-of-all-trades. You're a self starter, detail-oriented, organized, resourceful, and have the ability to manage projects from start to finish
--Interpersonal skills: You're a team player, have excellent interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work effectively with everyone from reporters to editors to executives
--Experience pitching and delivering top tier national media placements in national outlets such as NYT, USA Today, NBC, CBS, Fox, et
--4+ years of public relations experience with consumer technology and/or parenting mediaBonus Points:
--Experience working with education, edtech or consumer hardware product
--BA in Communications or other Liberal Arts related field
--Both PR agency and in-house experience
-Experience in a startup setting
